Youngsters at Horn’s Mill Primary School can now enjoy an improved outdoor playground thanks to the Protos Community Fund.
The funds have enabled the school to enhance their current outdoor facilities and allow the children to develop their physical and mental health, opportunities that were sorely missed during the COVID pandemic.
The improvements include new playground markings, creating vibrant and visually stimulating playground games such a checkers, snakes and ladders and hopscotch. Whilst colourful maps and bold phonics provide a perfect blend between education and play.
The new facilities will enable more children to enjoy the benefits of playground play and are already proving a hit with the pupils. Local groups that use the school playground, such as Helsby Brownies, will also benefit from the improved play area.
Sharon Wyatt, Headteacher of Horn’s Mill Primary School, said:
“The children and families that form part of our local community have been sorely affected by the pandemic, and learning outside, physical and mental health are high up on our priorities this year.
“Placing an emphasis on establishing healthy environments and behaviours can help students understand the importance of wellness.
“Giving health and play a specific moment in time, especially in light of the pandemic, is an important way for our school to support our students. We’d like to thank Protos Community Fund once again for allowing this to happen.”
